Aetna Coverage Availability & Fees
Enrolling in an Aetna dental insurance plan affords you greater savings year after year. By agreeing to pay your monthly premium, you maintain access to substantial benefits – those that keep more money in your pocket while you continue to receive high-quality oral healthcare.
Each Aetna plan is different, but the in-network coverage levels look similar:
- 100% preventive dental care (i.e., dental exams, dental cleanings, X-rays, etc.)
- 80% basic restorative dental care (i.e., dental fillings, gum disease treatment, etc.)
- 50% major restorative dental care (i.e., dentures, dental crowns, tooth extractions, etc.)
It is unlikely that any cosmetic dental services will be covered; however, there are a few exceptions that we will be happy to look into if necessary. Also, if you or a loved one requires braces, you’ll need to review your policy to determine if you need to purchase an additional plan to help cover the costs.
Once you meet your annual deductible, Aetna will start covering more of the services you receive; however, if you are nearing your yearly maximum (the total amount your insurance company agrees to pay in a single year), there are options.
You can choose to wait until the following year to pursue treatment so that you can use the full amount of your annual maximum, or we may be able to spread your treatment over calendar years. This reduces your out-of-pocket expenses and is a benefit of seeing an in-network dentist.
